Back to the Basics.

My hair is not its normal self and hasnt really been for a looong time. I keep thinking what the heck is going on with my hair?? Its more dry than normal, more fragile. I colored my hair back when I big chopped and that part of my hair seems to be a mess. My hair that is still virgin hair which is a good half of my hair strand is thicker, shinier, stronger feeling, the parts that have color on them are just thinning out, breaking, and dry. I have come to the conclusion A. Im never coloring my hair again...and B.I need to get back to what worked for my hair in the beginning. YEARS ago when I started my healthy hair I stopped using products that hair silicone's or any ingredients that werent natural. I was about 99 percent natural in my products. These days I've been using a little bit of everything. Then I would only use sulfate free shampoos because I was only using natural products so I didnt feel the need to use anything stronger. Now, since Im using products with silicone's I have been using sulfate shampoos just about weekly. So Im gonna go ahead and start getting back to the basics with my hair, natural products only. No heat. Im going to TRY to make it to my delivery before I flat iron my hair again. I am going to start deep conditioning my hair once a week and truly commit to wrapping my hair up at night because that is a big problem for me. I ALWAYS forget or am just too lazy to get up out of bed and grab my scarf. When I do wrap my hair I notice a HUGE difference in how soft my hair is the next morning. So one conditioner Ive been wanting to try is the Yes To brand. Particularly Yes to Carrots. As far as my sealing oils they have always worked and been the same. Coconut, Castor, or Olive Oils. Hairvedas Vatika Frosting, and Shea butter, most recently my shea mix I made. I need to learn how to twist my hair better so I can start wearing protective twist. So tonight is my starting point. I just clarified my hair and right now I have Curl Junkie Curl Rehab on with a shower cap doing a DC. Ill rinse, then apply the Kimmaytube Leave In mix of Kinky Curly Knot Today, Aloe Vera Juice, Castor and JoJoba Oils. Twist and wrap then go to bed :)

OH! we find out the sex of the baby the 27th :) Nothing about this pregnancy feels like my first besides feeling miserable haha.

I made Naptural85's Creamy Shea Mix

So I love Naptural85's youtube channel...I LOVE her hair. She has such a simple routine, and gorgeous hair. I've always preferred simple routines when it comes to my natural hair care. I wanted to try out some of the things shes been using and referring to in her videos so I made a spritz with distilled water and aloe juice first, then decided to mix up a batch of her shea mix with just a couple variations.
Her mix is Shea Butter, Castor Oil, Jojoba Oil, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Vit E Oil.
MY mix is Shea Butter, Castor Oil, Jojoba Oil, Olive Oil, and Hairvedas Vatika Frosting. I added a little bit tooo much oil than I should of considering my Shea Butter was a smaller amount. I put all of it in a big mixing bowl and used a hand mixer on low for a couple min till it looked a little fluffy. If I would of put less oils than I did it would of been more fluffy, plus the vatika frosting consistency keeps it a tad less than it would be with plain coconut oil. The oils should be a small amount compared to the shea butter like a tsp to a tbsp.
 This stuff is AHHHMAAAZING.
Last night I sectioned my dry 2 day old wash n go hair, sprayed it down section by section with the water aloe mix. Then added the shea mix starting at my ends and going up half way, braided it and moved on to the next. My braids were about the size of a finger in width. Put on a satin bonnet went to sleep, took them down today and fluffed a little ( not much because I cant find my pick which is amazing for fluffing). Today my hair is so shiny and soft. I will say I realized I was a bit heavy handed because my hands feel a lil oily when I touch my hair, so next time Ill use less than I did last night lol. I love the results though! Im planning on mixing some up for my sister who is relaxed and wears braid outs.
